Someday, the altered art you make today will be
old, faded, falling apart, and someone else will salvage the bits and use them
in new altered art. It's the best that any piece of art can hope for

‘Shoot for the moon.......

Even if you miss it you will land among the stars.’

If there is one thing Matt and I wish for our children it is that they Soar.. it's a big One thing.

‘If you reach for the stars, you might not quite get one, but you won’t end up with a handful of mud, either.’

— Leo Burnett

I have so many regrets over opportunities I have not taken or have missed. Either because it just wasn't the right time, or more often than not because I was not brave enough, or more likely - I will do that tomorrow - and as we know Tomorrow never comes.

So when George asked me to make her a canvas for her and I was given free reign to do 'Your normal stuff Mum' This is what I came up with....

Mixture of lots of my favourite media..  Paint / Metal / my new love Fabric paper and lots of fiddling....

Inspired by some many different people...
Beryl Taylor - you must read her book Mixed Media Explorations
it all began by Hels Sunday Challenge which this week is Hearts  - but it has no stamping on it, so not eligible.. but that was the starting point
and lots of little details have been inspired by blog hopping on the OWOH event... it's lovely to see so many gorgeous blogs and works of art..

But mostly I am inspired by my children and my heart belongs to them

UPDATE
One 11 year old home from school 'Its wicked Mum'
(which is about as much praise you can expect from a nearly 12 year old)
'but I thought it said Soat'
(I can see where she is coming from..)

  1. This so touches a chord with me too - if only we could also pass on our wisdom of experience to them too as its almost more painful to watch them decide to do something you know will be a mistake than to have made it yourself x G and E are lucky to have such a proud, thoughtful and creative Mum and if your dreams for them come true then they will soar with the stars thats for sure x Gorgeous work Nicks x J x

  3. It's so beautiful. I can totally understand your regrets and try to instill the same about going for their dreams. What a wonderful daughter to ask for something and just look what she's getting. Wow.
