Someday, the altered art you make today will be
old, faded, falling apart, and someone else will salvage the bits and use them
in new altered art. It's the best that any piece of art can hope for

Saturday 4 October 2008

Well it's only a month late.....

But better late than never!

This is a little BRAK for the ever talented Wyvernsian, I got a bit behind with YCJ on the horizon and Summer Holidays so rather than send her any old tat ('then why have you?' I can hear you say) she had to wait a bit for her Birthday present. But here it is at long last..

Obviously you can tell it's an altered tin and also a ATC 'book' and a Brooch.
The Brooch was inspired by Sian who has a fab skeleton stamp that I coveted and then saw it at Ally Pally. It came on a plate which also had this Skull on it, don't know why I am suddenly fascinated by skeletons but I feel a soldered skeleton coming on!

The tin started out as playing card tin from Tesco. Not so long ago Heidi gave me one of her withering 'gawd you are thick' looks when she found out I sand the paint off tins and told me to burn the paint off with a blowtorch.. hate to say it but it works a treat in a fraction of the time. I was left with smoky effect which I rather liked, so instead of painting it I just left it how it was just added a coat of varnish. The embellishment on the top was made by pressing some old clock parts into makins clay and roughly tearing around the edge and brushed with Glossy Accents. The little clock is a soldered glass pebble, backed with a stamped image of a clock face.

Well onwards and upwards to the next project... altering my daughters dressing table, here it is as it is was. She loved it when Matthew made it, but now 3 years on, Pink is SO UNCOOL!

  1. Thank you so much. It's absolutely fantastic, all of it, and it was deifnitely worth the wait.

I love the dressing table but I do think Georgina has a point about the pink! You definitely have to post a piccy of the finished article.
