Someday, the altered art you make today will be
old, faded, falling apart, and someone else will salvage the bits and use them
in new altered art. It's the best that any piece of art can hope for

Whoo Hoo I have actually done some crafting...

Seems like an age since I have actually sat down and done some crafting! Been an endless whirl of end of school term stuff and life stuff and just stuff, and best of all an impronto visit from Mrs Bessie and Mr Bessie which was absolutely fab in the highest order of fabness but meant I actually had to do some dusting.... not too much though cos I live by the following poem that a friend shared with me a while ago

Dust if you must .......
But wouldn't it be better to paint a picture or write a letter,
bake cookies or a cake and lick the spoon or plant a seed,
Ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there's not much time . . . .
With beer to drink , rivers to swim and mountains to climb
music to hear and books to read,
friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must,
But the world's out there with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
a flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around, again.
Dust if you must , but bear in mind,
old age will come and it's not kind. . .
And when you go - and go you must -
you, yourself will make more dust!

this poem always makes me think of my mum who died at the tender age of 48 when I was 14. She would be the first to admit she was no housewife! A point that always embarrassed me slightly when I had friends over, but you know what... no one remembers that now, what they do remember is that she always gave a warm welcome even in the late stages of her illness, we were always well fed and well loved and she was incredibly talented. Hey no one remembers the layer of dust or the HUGE pile of ironing that she never even tried to hide from unexpected visitors!... so let that be a lesson....

DUST IF YOU MUST!

But I digress I have made a card..... yep that's right a card.... but I ain't going to show you cos it's not the recipients Bday yet! (I won't mention that it's her Bday on Saturday ..... the same day as mine LOL)

Oh... more major news, I, me, Nicola, Nicky, Nicks bought herself a lipstick today...... yep you heard right LIPSTICK!

See.... how can you not love these guys in these photos?? I am honoured to be able to call them my friends

  2. Just read out your dust poem to the hubby..."wise words" he said, whilst playing x-box. Perhaps they could make an x-box poem...x-box if you must...."To be fair, though..." he says in defence, "it is 8:50pm"...
..and, anyway, there's you on the computer!
    "True, husband, true..."
...and altered art and wonderful tat is just the ticket...

  4. That poem is spot on, don't they say that people with spotlessly clean houses are the most boring.
