What a fab name that would be June Journal - Jan Journal would be better - but then with a name like mine you would be grateful for any other name - I was born a Cocking and married a Nobbs - you are smirking (or guffawing, dont deny it!) - I digress...... Its June already, so time to share my May Journal spread as part as the year long challenge organised by Kate Crane aka The Kathryn Wheel. I showed this page empty last month when is had evolved as a mistake - I still think its a mistake, it hasn't worked out how I envisaged it, but hey ho....
This is June's Page ready and waiting to be filled, I am a bit happier with this one. When I bought mt Moleskine Journal I made the error of not buying sketchbook quality - and even though I do stick 2-3 pages together, they still crinkle, which isn't great - but I am not changing the book now, it will have to do for the rest of 2011 - Next year I will buy a better journal (any suggestions??) - but its not the end of the world, my journal is only for me (even though I share it with the world LOL) and I still get to play and try different techniques
If you fancy having a look at some other Journals - hop over to Kate's Blog
I am surprised you didn't go double barrelled!!
ReplyDeleteLove the June page - and May's turned out fine too.
I like both pages.
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for heavier paper try a spiral journal made of aquarelle paper 140 weight or higher. Also I only make a calender on one side of the paper and skip a page to make the next calendar. On the back I reinforce the perforation with either a strip of paper and mod podge or a piece of tape and gesso. Later I use the back of the paper for an art journal page related to that month.
Have fun filling June.
Actually Nicks I think the creasing and crinkling really adds to the finish...although of course, if it drives you nuts, it's wrong! I am so enjoying your journal journey..and your out loud musings about your name....yes, I did smirk, but only after you said I would!!
ReplyDeleteOh! I have also made that mistake and struggled with crinkly pages. I'm getting used to odd effects and working round little accidents. Love the June page colour combination.
