Someday, the altered art you make today will be
old, faded, falling apart, and someone else will salvage the bits and use them
in new altered art. It's the best that any piece of art can hope for

Made the first mark...

In my new Moleskine journal ... well if the truth be known I have made several marks and this has been painted over! Inspired by Suzi Blu's journalling and very refreshing view on 'art' I was determined not to rip the pages out when the first draft was - well awful!
You may say this isn't much better, maybe its not but this journal is for me and me alone. Not sure I will be sharing all of the pages as I do them, they may be a bit personal, I don't know yet - but as a friend, who has also recently taken delivery of a moleskine -said this is for 'my head space'
So this is page one, and my rules for my journal. How it will evolve, I don't know yet, but I am determined it will evolve. Throughout my life I have half heartedly started and then never got past a few entries, diaries/journals - oh all those memories, thoughts and experiences have now been forgotten!

I'm no 'artist' as you can tell by my 'self portrait' but does it matter? Nope !

So complete with rules. 'cup stains' (hey I once saw a commercial stamp so you could make cup marks on your paper... why would anyone want to buy one when we all have cups/mugs that you can stamp with ) and coffee stains - I didn't actually spill my drink, its supposed to be symbolic - OMG I sound like an artist :LOL
I posted a you tube link to the wonderfully eccentric Suzi Blu a few posts down, take a look, she will free your soul!

Happy Halloween to you all - here is my Ghoul who sulked cos he didn't look scary enough - he'll sulk more when he gets home and realises it has to be washed off LOL

  1. I love it - cup rings and splodges 'n' all (and the colours are beautiful)! I felt exactly the same when I was doing my first journal page recently - that it was for me and it didn't really matter what anyone else thought about it. (It's still wonderful to get positive feedback though - lol)

Your portrait is great - one of a kind, just like the artist who painted it!

  6. That's wonderful. I watched the video you posted the other day and was inspired too. I did get back to my art journal that I started earlier this year but I didn't have the courage to share it on my blog. Maybe another day. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration.

  8. Well your boy looks bloody scary if you ask me; and your journal doesn't look scary at all.
In fact, it's beautiful. And who cares, anyway? At the end of the day art isn't about whether we're good or bad; it's about expression. :-)

And as for Ed, I didn't recognise him. Think you may have been worried if I had. Lol.
