As soon as I saw this page in WTJ with the instruction to Colour Outside the Lines, I knew I wanted to use some lines from a song I have had on my ipod for a while now sung by the talented Amber Schneider, which coincidentally is called ....... wait for it ..........' She colours outside the lines'
I challenge you to read the words... or shall I make it easier for you and just tell you??
She colours outside the lines, just a little to the left. She don't care if she makes a little mess. If something needs saying she gets it off her chest, she's real, she feels - try to read her and you are wasting your time. She colours outside the lines'
There is another line that I haven't included that says 'she likes to rock till the sun comes up' - I did a long time ago.... now I would rather be snuggled up in bed with a good book, my man and a hot chocolate.
However I still like to try to be 'shocking pink in a pastel world'
Thank you to everyone who is following this 'journey' of wrecking with me - still a load to come cos my mojo is still in hiding - any tips to get it to reveal itself? I tried with Hels Sunday challenge, got halfway through making something that would fit that and be suitable for OHOW (see the link in my sidebar if you don't know what I am on about!) but halfway is as far as I got and now I am stuck ...... maybe I should just carry on wrecking and planning for the HugBinders event which is far approaching and getting very exciting with over 50 people taking part - but then I need my mojo to help me with a bit of tat for a raffle prize, my page and sorting out the covers.... MOJO MOJO come out wherever you are.........pleeeeaaaaaaaaaassssssssseeee!!
Hi there, I am a 50 something stay at home mother to two adorable (sometimes) kids and wife to an adorable (sometimes) man, servant to a Chocolate Lab. I try to run an organised home but get waylaid by an arty project, but hey when I'm dead people will remember that I was covered in paint rather than my house has a fine layer of dust. As long as we have clean clothes to wear, food to eat and clean toilets I feel I can be free to get messy with paint. Apart from my family I love my small circle of special friends and wide circle of acquaintances, I have no time for petty, silly, rude people. SOH - wicked, Legs - short, waistline - bit too big Red wine makes me feel suicidal so stick to Beer.. Roles in life? Mother, Wife Daughter, Sister, Friend, Mate, Cook, Cleaner, Dental Nurse, Pretend Artist, School Governor,Blogger... I love Daffodils, Bendicks Bittermints, Copper, bits of what other people may think of as Tat,0ur Trailer Tent, My lappy, Bargains, , laughing, my bed, getting up (yep i'm weird) McCoys Crisps, Roast Dinners, Imperial Leather soap, Hardware shops, Rod Stewart, James Stewart, Clarence Frogman Henry, Warm Socks, Coming Home.
But I have found someone totally copying some of my stuff (why they would want to heaven knows) and claiming it as their own inspiration... so while I find it a complete honour for people to gain a little inspiration from my tat, please be honest. We all get ideas from other artists, thats how the art world flourishes, but please note that all artwork, photos and text on this blog are mine. I am more than happy for you to take inspiration from my work, but please do not attempt to copy or reproduce it without crediting the original idea to me. Thank you

You can't stand & wait for the storm to be over you've got to learn to dance in the rain'
That's not actually the name of the ATC, but I never got a return for this 1:1 swap...... perhaps the chap from Ireland didn't like it, perhaps he had personal problems that prevented him from making me an ATC, perhaps it got lost in the post, or perhaps he was just too rude and too lazy to make one!
Altered Jigsaw bit
Theme I was given was 'Shabby Chic' and pink..
Theme Nature..... the quote reads.. There are always flowers for those who choose to look Henry Matisse.

Bit basic but I still like it, hope the owner is looking after it!
No matter what looms ahead, if you can eat today, enjoy the sunlight today, mix good cheer with friends today, enjoy it and bless God for it. Do not look back on happiness -- or dream of it in the future. You are only sure of today; do not let yourself be cheated out of it.

Miniature works of art created on cards have been around for centuries, largely used as business cards. The modern-day concept of ATCs was conceptualized by artist M.vanci stirnrmenn in 1996, an idea born of older sports themed trading cards, and became a movement that denounced the tradition of critiquing and appraising art, and embraced the process of one artist connecting with another and exchanging styles and techniques. ATC are art collectables but the one rule that makes an ATC derive from their origins: the dimensions of the ATC must be 2.5"x3.5", or 64x89mm. To this rule are appended a couple of conventions. First, an ATC mustn't be sold, only exchanged, as the whole essence of these tiny works of art is about artists meeting in person, by correspondence, online etc and exchanging their works, thus getting exposed to and experiencing many personal styles and techniques. Second, on the back of each ATC the artist writes part or all of the following information: name, contact information, title of the ATC and number (i.e. if it's a one off original or part of a series).
ATC's are just such great fun, at first the size seems just too small, then after a while anything bigger seems quite alien! the fun is in the swapping!! For some stunning galleries check out http://www.squidoo.com/atcs
A FEW BITS AND BOBS
ATC size, I stuck bits of friendly plastic onto a piece of mountboard and then heated it, swirled it around, stamped into it (ink your stamp first with versamark or similar and don't worry it won't damage your stamp) added beads and hey presto
Friends are angels without wings
Altered jigsaw on an ATC for my friend Bess... decided to start writing on my work, however much I dislike my handwriting
paint on that acrylic paint and dry with your heat gun... fab effect! I love the way the paint has bubbled and looks like one of the faces has a hood on it's head
My first attempt at using Beeswax, an interesting technique but i'm not convinced yet,..... still got alot to learn, any experts out there??
learnt that mica and beeswax does not mix!

my first attempt at calligraphy.. well you have to try everything!
This one was cut along the spine and then rejoined with a piece of plasterboard tape (much cheaper than buyng Magic mesh!). The extra depth was needed to allow an false 'box' to be put in filled with bits and pieces) The theme the mailer was 'look and you shall see'
Double slider closed
Pull the tag at the side and both sides come out at the same time, great fun and easy to make. The instructions are on the Splitcoaststampers site, take a look its a fab site!
A pressie for my best mate.... (she knows who she is cos she has got the clock LOL) The 'numbers' tell her what she should be doing ie. Eating, getting up, going to bed and crafting, but as my son pointed out, most of them say 'crafting' Allsorts of paints, embossing powders and goodness know what else were thrown at this
A cuckoo angel........ read into that what you like!!
Slide mailer (front)
I love using metal in my work, here it is freestyle embossed and backed with a calendar from an old Pears Cyclopedia
Slide mailer (open)
made for a hosted swap, the 'person' is an inkblot image with added elements, the words are from a song written by my boss. The Rabbit is 'late late for a very important date'
whatever will you find. I love working with metal, as a child I used to fiddle with some pewter that my mum had, she played with loads of different stuff, must be where I get it from. I forgot all about it until I went on a Ten Seconds Studio course. Metal is such great fun, doodle, emboss, use stencils, whatever you fancy. Can be fiddly and takes patience but is very relaxing.
