Last term my sons school held an Art Exhibition which was a great success and was judged by local artists. Rather embarrassingly the theme the kids (aged 4-8) were given was their local community, and my son did a painting of the picnic table at the local pub with a pint of Mum's beer on it! Anyway I digress, this year the head teacher is keen to do a 'Sculpture trail' in the school field, although if I get my way it will be throughout the whole village and involve local artists as well.
We want to take it up a step from the usual 'junk modelling' and encourage the kids to produce some really interesting stuff - which also has to be weather resistant!
So any ideas anyone?? The age of the kids does need to be taken into consideration
I was thinking of trying to get a local firm to make a BIG metal hoop and make a gigantic dream catcher, maybe Modroc sculptures? Scarecrows?
Ideas please!
Oooo just been browsing, Withies look fun!
What a great thing to be involved with. How about something with mosaics? Dee x
ReplyDeletehave emailed you my ideas OGNO rofl - which i think is an awesome idea!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic idea Nicks! Modroc could prove expensive...unless you can blag it off the company...(worth a try and you've nothing to loose if they also get a little credit). The windcatches sound cool if done on a BIG scale...and mosaics have lots of potential...and how about big kites...or totem poles?...or a spin on scarecrows - plant pot men (get the local gardencentre etc to donate used/old plastic pots) a nice way to bring recycling into the childrens 'learning'? JUST A FEW THOUGHTS!
