These were the words that a dear dear friend recently wrote on a forum thread that I posted on Valentines day saying that we should always tell people we love that we love them. Lovely words from a lovely lady, and very opportune because just a few days later Ejay (Joyce) and Eddie celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, so I used her wise words on a canvas I made them to mark the grand occasion.
It started off rather blue, but then when i found the picture I wanted to use I changed the colour to match the colours they were wearing..it does look rather luscious in real life. The words and photo were printed onto muslin, which I had ironed onto Freezer paper, which then allows you to put it through a printer. The paper then just peels off and I layered it onto gold organza and burgundy felt which were singed around the edges.
Chipboard letters ( it was then I realised why she uses Ejay as a forum name... E & J... I know I am a bit slow...!!) and a metal heart which started off quite a bit larger and was bit by bit cut down. The photo has been padded out a bit to add a bit of extra dimension.
I then hit a bit of a 'wall' and didn't know what to do next, fortunately another friend (yep I have another one) came to stay at the weekend and we faffed about with it a bit and Debs came up with the idea of adding some beads, so whilst I sewed a few around the picture, Debs painstakingly threaded a load of beads onto some gold thread..... we then realised that gravity would play a rather major in attaching the beads.. so Debs then painstakingly threaded them onto wire....
Happy Anniversary to .....
