I am in LOVE!!!!!

We have some new family members.
Meet Babs, Ejay, Susie, Bebe and Kentucky
our rescued Battery hens that we collected from Little Hen Rescue today.

They are GORGEOUS! and I am smitten already!

Babs

Bebe
(so named because she is the scrawniest and has the most feathers missing mainly around her bottom that resembles a Baboons Bottom - matts idea!)
Ejay - the loudest and looks like she will be the boss

Kentucky - odd SOH my son!

and finally the prettiest one

Susie!

We are really pleased at how they have settled in so far, considering until yesterday they had not seen the light of day and all the space they had to 'live' in was less than an A4 piece of paper, they don't seem at all phased by live outside. They have all had something to eat and more importantly something to drink.
We were expecting them to be in a worse state than this, bald and scrawny, but they are beautiful. Apparently they came from a good battery hen farmer (if there is such a thing) = Please think twice when you buy your eggs and spend a few extra pence on Free Range Eggs

Excuse me while I go and cluck at bit more at my new babies.

  12. i'm working my way backwards through some of your posts LOL... Nicks I agree with the free range eggs thing - I always but free range when possible. Really don't agree with the pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap eggs... if only people knew...

Good on you for giving these girls a great life... it makes my heart sing.
