The Diary of Jack the Ripper

Well it was it isn't now, now it is
'The Diary of Why.'
Why?? cos a friend (non crafty I hasten to add) asked me Why I do all this stuff.... hard question to answer, so I just said 'If you have to ask then you wouldn't understand' she quite rightly answered.. 'you don't know do you!'.....
Anyway back to the plot, here's my first Altered Book, never thought I would do one because I didn't think I could ever chop up a book, but this book had never been read, would probably never be read and I persuaded myself it would be loved sitting in my front room in an altered state. So lots of cutting, gluing, gessoing, painting and inking and glazing and embellishing later here she is! If I say so myself, I love it

but my evil husband thought people should know what a mess I work in........

Now back to those houses!!
Suppose I better clear up first!!

  4. Your book is great - love the way you've kept some of the original wording on the front cover - and the inside is just brill.

Great craft room - yes, it does look a bit like mine too in part -although you've far more shelves and stuff than I have. I wish that I had just a little bit of your creativity though!!! LOL.

    Thanks for sharing x

  5. Well your room looks like a home from home, aren't craft rooms supposed to look like that - it shows that it is loved in my opinion!
I have a question WHY? Can't I produce something as fabulous as your book, totally amazing piece of art, you should feel really proud of yourself LOVE IT!!!

  6. Wow! I'm not surprised you love it. I do too, and what a fantastic photo you managed to get of it. I understand how you feel about chopping up books, I've not done one myself for the same reason. I keep thinking about it, then thinking "no, I can't". Hopefully I'll be brave enough one day, LOL. As for your mess, mine is far worse at the moment, and mine's in half of what used to be the dining room so is permanently on display too! I'm sure people who visit think I'm nuts, but then they're probably not too far off the mark.

  9. I said so on DC but thought it deserved another fab comment :) I love it too, its a great layout and the colours are brill. Well worth defacing a book, i have no issues with that at all :) Your room is pristine compared to mine, it is diabolical! But if you shut the door its okay to forget :)

  10. This is brilliant! I'm squeamish about cutting up books too, but I went to a bookshop and picked up a couple of old ones to play with a while ago.

I think I may have gone green with envy at the sight of your craft room - who cares about the mess, looks like heaven to me!!!!

  14. ok ok I lied.

I love Altered Books - have just started a new one - but I have never gone as far with niches and paper engineering as you have here and it looks blinking AMAZING!

(and your craft room is just fine! mine's worse, honestly)

  15. I love the way you have cut all niches and boxes in your book. I am sorry that someone has been directly copying your work I think that is every bloggers nightmare!! but dont let it put you off producing such good work.
