Do what you can.......

Before I went on holiday to Sunless Spain I was contemplating the fact that I couldn't go a whole week without being creative but was under the restraints of not being able to take too much stuff - I always carry a mini Moleskine journal with me and a few pens but decided just to shove a few water soluble wax pastels and a water-brush in my case. Just a couple of days before I went I came across some words posted on someones blog - sadly I cant remember where I read them or else I would credit the author - but they hit home as they read
'Do what you can, with what you have, when you can'

So I did....

and I had plenty of time to people watch ..

Mostly I just used the stash I took with me

But also used a piece of the paper table mats the hotel used at breakfast time
and some coffee used as paint
Its a shame you cant see on this page how shiny it is - I discovered you can buff up wax pastels

Then Georgina had a go, fascianted by the fact the pastels could be blended with water and the fact mum was doing strange things with coffee

Not to be left out Ed had a go

and sketched out his designs for a rocket launcher and a ball launcer
(these designs are copyrighted - they may make his fortune one day!!)

You can have a lot of fun with just a few supplies!

BTW.... back to the first photo - when did the term 'Zentangle' suddenly arrive?? Its not new, I can remember doodling like this when I was a teenager many years ago, inspired by my best school friend who had doodles like that all over her diary - I am talking many moons ago!

PS..... forgot to mention that I also took along my new Posca Pens, which are fab because they write over Wax (and virtually any surface you want them to) I was told about these by Karen who left a comment on an earlier post and recommended them - thanks Karen for sharing about these little beauties!
